HOUSTON, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's golf team turned in a three-round total of 899 (+35) at the Colin Montgomerie HBU Husky Men's Spring Invitational, finishing 10
th at the 13-team tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals shot rounds of 303, 294 and 302 for a total of 899 (+35) over the two-day three-round event, finishing ahead of South Dakota, Weber State and Nebraska-Omaha.
Louisiana Monroe won the tournament with a combined score of 870 (+6), followed by Central Arkansas, with a total of 874 (+10). Stephen F. Austin took third at the event, turning in a score of 875 (+11).
The individual title was won by Blake Stock of Stephen F. Austin. Stock shot a three-round total of 210 (-6). Lumberjack Major Monzingo and HBU golfer Carlos Trevino finished second and third with scores of 211 (-5) and 212 (-4) respectively.
LEADERS
Remy Huston led the Cardinals with rounds of 71, 75 and 77 for a total of 223 (+7) to finish 30
th. Just off of Huston's pace,
Cole Solis earned 36
th after rounds of 78, 71 and 75 for a score of 224 (+8).
Jeff Conflitti earned 41
st with a total of 225 (+9), while
Kevin Smith came in 55
th with a score of 228 (+12).
Caden Wylie rounded out the squad with a total of 239 (+23) to place 80
th.
