Cardinals Set for Southland Showdown with Cowboys in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – After a tough loss to Nicholls last weekend in Louisiana, the University of the Incarnate Word football team returns home for a pivotal Southland Conference battle against McNeese at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Benson Stadium.

OPENING KICK

Facing the defending conference champion, the Cardinals (1-2, 1-1 SLC) will have their work cut out for them as they try to slow down one of the league's most prolific offensive attacks in the Cowboys (1-2, 0-1 SLC). UIW carries a ton of momentum after scoring 22 points in the fourth quarter in Thibodaux, La.

McNeese is coming off of its first Southland Conference loss since the team's 2014 finale. The Cowboys had two first half special teams miscues and a fourth quarter interception that led to 21 Stephen F. Austin points proved to be difference in the Lumberjacks beating the 13th-ranked Cowboys, 31-28, in the league opener for both teams.
