2015 (Junior):  Higgins was once again a rotation player at inside linebacker playing in all 11 games.  He had five tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in the season opener against Texas A&M-Kingsville.  He posted a season high six tackles at Stephen F. Austin and at Houston Baptist.  He recorded a 12-yard loss on a tackle at Southeastern Louisiana.  He finished the year with 33 total tackles.

2014 (Sophomore):  Higgins came off the bench in all 11 games appearing on special teams and as a linebacker.  He recorded at least one tackle in every game, including a season high four tackles against Southeastern Louisiana.  He had 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack against McNeese State.  He recovered a fumble against Sam Houston State.  He finished the year with five special teams tackles. 

2013 (Freshman):  Higgins was in the linebacker rotation for the UIW defense.  He made six stops and had a half sack in a shutout win over Texas College.  He notched four tackles in a win over Eastern New Mexico.  He had a half sack at Abilene Christian and his first full sack in a win over Houston Baptist.  He finished the season with 17 tackles and two sacks.

High School:  Higgins was on the football and track teams at Sweeny High School.  He was a first team all-district and all-county performer as a senior after being named the team’s defensive MVP.  He was an Academic All-District choice as well.  He was a State medalist in the 110-meter hurdles.

Personal:  Higgins is the son of Lonnie and Vicki Higgins and is studying business administration with a minor in accounting.  He has seven siblings and was born on December 27, 1993.  He is related to Johnnie Lee Higgins who played at UTEP and for the Oakland Raiders.
