Women's Tennis Closes Season with a Loss

WACO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team finished their season on Wednesday with a 4-1 loss at #45 Baylor University.

The Bears (13-13) jumped out to an early lead over the Cardinals (3-20) by winning the doubles point.  Blair Shankle and Kiah Generette took the #1 doubles match 6-0 while Theresa Van Zyl and Karina Traxler won 6-1 at #2.  The UIW duo of Victoria Kareh and Antea Dedic were leading 4-1 at the #3 spot when the match was called.

Baylor quickly ran through the singles matches and clinched the match with two matches still going on.  Maria Batchinsky earned the Cardinals only point of the day when she swept her #6 singles match 6-1, 6-0.
