For the Panthers (6-9), Darrien Williams picked up his second loss of the season. Shannon Washington led Prairie View with a three-hit game and Nick Gurka hit a solo homerun on the first pitch of the game.
The second game turned out to be a pitcher's duel. UIW'

Preiss gave up an early run in the first inning, but then settled down and kept the Panthers in check for five innings. He got a no-decision only allowing one hit, one run and one walk while striking out four.
With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh, the Panthers loaded the bases with one out against
Cody Allen (Bulverde/Smithson Valley HS) and were threating to score. Allen picked up a huge strikeout for the second out, but Brashad Jones then hit a ball over
Tanner Wall in right field for a double that cleared the bases and gave the Panthers a 4-1 lead. The next batter, Gurka, drove in Jones to gain the definitive 5-1 lead.
Allen picked up the loss for the Cardinals, his first of the season.
