LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of the Incarnate Word men's golf team finished 11^th overall at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, led by the trio of Kevin Smith, Jeff Conflitti and Caden Wylie.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
The Cardinals shot +38 as a team over the three-round tournament, finishing 11^th out of 14 programs. UIW shot rounds of 292, 307 and 291 at the event, totaling 890 as a squad.
 
Grand Canyon won the tournament with a combined team score of 837 (-15) and also fielded the individual winner of the 87-player event. Matt McClung was the overall champion, shooting a three-round total of 202 (-11).
 
LEADERS
 
Smith, Conflitti and Wylie were the highest finishers for the Cardinals, each shooting 224 (+11) to finish 45^th. Chase Rios placed 58^th at the tournament, shooting 227 (+14), while Remy Huston came in 55^th, shooting 231 (+31).
 
UP NEXT
 
UIW will next head to the Lion Invitational at the Colony, hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce from Monday, Oct. 31 through Tuesday, Nov. 1.
