LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of the Incarnate Word men's golf team finished 11
th overall at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, led by the trio of
Kevin Smith,
Jeff Conflitti and
Caden Wylie.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals shot +38 as a team over the three-round tournament, finishing 11
th out of 14 programs. UIW shot rounds of 292, 307 and 291 at the event, totaling 890 as a squad.
Grand Canyon won the tournament with a combined team score of 837 (-15) and also fielded the individual winner of the 87-player event. Matt McClung was the overall champion, shooting a three-round total of 202 (-11).
LEADERS
Smith, Conflitti and Wylie were the highest finishers for the Cardinals, each shooting 224 (+11) to finish 45
th.
Chase Rios placed 58
th at the tournament, shooting 227 (+14), while
Remy Huston came in 55
th, shooting 231 (+31).
UP NEXT
UIW will next head to the Lion Invitational at the Colony, hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce from Monday, Oct. 31 through Tuesday, Nov. 1.
