SAN ANTONIO, TX – The home stand continues for the University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team as they host Lamar on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the McDermott Center. UIW is looking to snap a three match-losing streak and get their second Southland Conference victory of the season.
OPENING SET
Since defeating Central Arkansas for their first conference victory of the season, UIW has lost their last five SLC matchups to drop to 12
th in the conference standings. Lamar enters Thursday's matchup with a 3-14 overall record, but they 3-2 against conference opponents, which puts them in fifth place in the standings.
UIW is averaging 11.2 kills/ set while Lamar is averaging 10.7.
Sarea Alexander is coming off two very good performances last week, including a 12-block match against Sam Houston State and a team high 12 kills.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the fourth matchup all-time between UIW and Lamar. Last season, the Cardinals defeated Lamar 3-1 at the McDermott Center, but the Cardinals of Lamar lead the all-time series 1-2. This will be the first of two matchups scheduled this season between the two schools as UIW will travel to Beaumont, TX for the final match of the season.
