Volleyball Set for Two Matches Against HCU

SAN ANTONIO -- Looking to extend their five-match winning streak, The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team begins a two-game series against Houston Christian this week. The Cardinals travel to Houston to face the Huskies on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m. before returning home for the second matchup on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals are on a hot streak, going 2-0 for the second consecutive week after defeating East Texas A&M, 3-1, before sweeping Northwestern State on the road. With the back-to-back undefeated weeks, UIW now sits in a four-way tie atop the SLC standings alongside UTRGV, Southeastern Louisiana and SFA.

Calissa Allison continues to fill the stat sheet for UIW, earning a SLC Setter of the Week honorable mention nod after combining for 13 kills, 40 assists, 23 digs and four blocks across the two matches. She recorded her 11th and 12th double-doubles of the season.

Teddy-Raye Ewers turned in a career week, leading UIW in kills for both matches while recording the first two double-doubles of her collegiate career. The freshman posted a career-high 17 kills and 13 digs against East Texas A&M before following up with 11 kills and 11 digs against Northwestern St.

UIW looks to maintain its position atop the conference standings as the Cardinals enter the final stretch of the regular season.
