SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team played their final home game of the season on Friday against New Orleans. They lost 7-0 at the Mabry Tennis Center.
The Cardinals (2-20, 0-10) dropped the first point of the day in the doubles competition when
Matea Zemunik and
Antea Dedic lost 8-2 to Anja Luethi and Anna Segarra Rius, while
Malisa Vatanadilok and
Taryn Strahl lost 8-4 to Yasmine Rashad and Hafsa Laraibi. The number 1 game went unfinished, giving the Privateers (13-9, 4-5) an early lead.
In the singles competition, a straight sweep for New Orleans wrapped up the contest, with only one Cardinal getting a set back. At the #5 seed, Strahl won the first set 6-4, but went on to drop the second and third 3-6 and 5-10.
The Cardinals play their final game of the season on Saturday when they head to the Texas A&M Corpus Christi to play the Islanders at 2 p.m.
