SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team dropped their first Southland Conference match-up of the season on Friday. They lost 7-0 to Abilene Christian University at the Teague Events Center.
The Wildcats (5-0) took the lead right from the offing and prevented the Cardinals from getting a real foothold in the game. Their first point was earned in the doubles competition when Brittney Reed and Kaysie Hermsdorf defeated
Rachel Sadiq and
Sarah Savedra, 8-0, Lucile Pothier and Erin Walker defeated
Malisa Vatanadilok and
Maria Batchinsky, 8-0 and Nada Marjanovic and Ansley Boarman defeated
Matea Zemunik and
Antea Dedic, 8-4.
The singles games went much the same way with each of the Cardinals players getting beaten in straight sets.
