SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team dropped their first Southland Conference match-up of the season on Friday. They lost 7-0 to Abilene Christian University at the Teague Events Center.
           
The Wildcats (5-0) took the lead right from the offing and prevented the Cardinals from getting a real foothold in the game. Their first point was earned in the doubles competition when Brittney Reed and Kaysie Hermsdorf defeated Rachel Sadiq and Sarah Savedra, 8-0, Lucile Pothier and Erin Walker defeated Malisa Vatanadilok and Maria Batchinsky, 8-0 and Nada Marjanovic and Ansley Boarman defeated Matea Zemunik and Antea Dedic, 8-4.
           
The singles games went much the same way with each of the Cardinals players getting beaten in straight sets.

UIW is back in action on Sunday when they play Tyler Junior College at the Mabry Tennis Center at 10 am.
