Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – A lone goal by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Nanna Poulsen was the difference between the Islanders and visiting University of the Incarnate Word on Friday night in Southland Conference women's soccer action.

In this Texas rivalry, the Islanders (2-8-2, 1-3-1) and Cardinals (3-10-1, 1-3-1) started off neck and neck.  However, the Islanders gained more possession as the game went on. TAMCC took nine shots in the first 45 minutes against Sydney Huntsinger (New Braunfels/Canyon HS) while the Cardinals took six on the Islander's net.  The match went to halftime with the score tied at 0-0.

The second half took a turn in favor for Corpus Christi in the 49^th minute.  Poulsen took a long through ball from Audrey Kuhl that forced Huntsinger to come out of the goal box.  Poulsen was able to juke out Huntsinger and easily put the ball in the back of the net.  The Islanders continued to try to hit the long through pass to keep the pressure on the Cardinals as evidenced by six offside calls.

The Cardinals attempted to get back into the game with a couple shots in the last minutes of play by substitutes Karey Tylman (San Antonio/Alamo Heights HS) and Shelbie Letzer (Copperas Cove/Copperas Cove HS).  UIW fired 11 shots with six on goal while the Islanders attempted 15 shots with seven on goal.  The Cardinals had one final chance in the last minute when Abigail Koenigs' (San Antonio/Brandeis HS) free kick from just outside of the box went wide.

The Cardinals are now off until next Friday when they travel to McNeese State University for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
