EDINBURG, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team lost 5-2 on Friday at UT-Pan American at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
The Lady Broncs (13-6) started the match well. They earned the lone doubles point available when Reegan Greenwood and Katia Stavroulaki won at No. 1 doubles and Didi Fatchikova and Mariana Ranzahuer won at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, the Cardinals (3-10)
Ivana Katavic (Split, Croatia/Ekonomsko-Birotehnicka) topped Fatchikova in straight sets at No. 1, 6-4, 7-5. However, the only other point the Cardinals were able to take came at No. 5 singles where
Taryn Strahl (San Antonio/Churchill HS) outlasted Ranzahuer in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 10-7.
The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday at noon against Southland Conference rival Southeastern Louisiana at home.
