NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team dropped their third straight Southland Conference match on Sunday at Stephen F. Austin, 6-1.
For the Cardinals (2-9), it was
Andi Botha who picked up the only point at #4 singles. Against Laura Servise she served a 7-5, 6-2 straight set victory.
For the Lady Jacks (7-5) #1, #2, #3 and #6 singles were straight forward wins. At #5 singles, UIW's
Taryn Strahl won her first set 6-4 against Kateryna Bugayenko, who then came back in the second with a 6-4 win to push the match to a third set. The final set ended 6-2 to Bugayenko.
In doubles play, the Cardinals pair of
Jennifer Betancourt and
Sarah Savedra posted an 8-6 winning performance, but both Katavic and Botha and Strahl and Reblin lost 8-3, giving the point to SFA.
The Cardinals are back in action on Tuesday when the return home to host Cameron University at 10 a.m.
