SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team traveled to Texas State on Saturday and dropped a 7-0 shutout.

The Cardinals (0-5) fell short against the Bobcats (3-2) for their fifth straight loss to start the season.  UIW's #1 singles player Ivana Katavic entered the day with a 6-6 record, but was defeated by Jessica Kahts 6-2, 6-1.  Taryn Strahl was the only Cardinals player to force a third set, but still lost to Katy Collins at #5 singles 6-2, 2-6, 10-8.

UIW will continue their travels to Tyler, TX to face Tyler Junior College and UT-Tyler on March 1 at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.  The first conference match of the season is against Abilene Christian on March 9 at 11 a.m. at home.
