SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's swim teams will be back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a dual meet against Southwestern University at the Barshop Natatorium on campus.
The UIW men are ranked #30 in the nation by CollegeSwimming.com, the highest ranking of any team in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association. The Cardinals have two individuals ranked in the top 20 nationally in their events. Senior
Thiago Parravicini (Rio de Janiero, Brazil/C.E.L.) is currently fifth in the nation in the 200-yard breaststroke and 13
th in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman
David Moore (San Antonio/Marshall HS) is ranked 20
th in the 400-yard individual medley.
The UIW women do not have the same ranking as the men, but have been having a quality season. For only the second time all year, the team is competing in a meet that will include diving. 2013 NCAA Division II national champion
Kali Lents (San Antonio/Reagan HS) leads a strong diving team for the Cardinals and it will be her first ever competition at the Barshop Natatorium.
One of the interesting stories of the meet is that UIW senior
Robbie Morris (Helotes/O'Connor HS) and his sister, Southwestern freshman Alexandra Morris, will be swimming at the same meet for the first time in their collegiate careers.
