DALLAS -- The University of the Incarnate Word Swim and Dive team split its tri-meet with Southern Methodist and Oklahoma Christian on Friday, Oct. 2. The women's team defeated Oklahoma Christian, 177-110, while the men's team earned a 195-87 victory over the Eagles.
Max Linkins earned the Cardinals' first podium finish in the 1000 freestyle, finishing third in 9:34.89. Linkins also grabbed a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 1:48.85. Gabriel Mederios added a runner-up finish in the 500 freestyle, touching in 4:36.47.
Tristan Clark also recorded two third-place finishes, touching in 50.25 in the 100 backstroke and 1:51.60 in the 200 backstroke.Â
Domanta Trota grabbed two second-place spots for the Cardinals, posting a 45.03 in the 100 freestyle and 20.35 in the 50 freestyle. Yuta Koska did the same in the 200 IM with a 1:55.44 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:01.00.
On the women's side, Jada Ashford finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:04.13, while Kristin Schauss picked up a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly in a time of 56.61.Â
Adriana Roldan and Kayley Redford went 2-3, respectively, in the 200 IM. Roldan finished in 2:10.82, followed by Redford in 2:12.78.Â
The Cardinals closed the meet with a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 freestyle. Ashford, Harmonee Freelon, Madeline Wollny and Kelechi Nwazae finished in 1:34.79 on the women's side, while Trota, Yassin El Sherrif, Derek Montoya and Cheston Francis touched in 1:22.34 for the men.
