SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team will head south to take on Texas A&M-Kingsville as part of Lone Star Conference Rivalry Week on Wednesday at 8 p.m at Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
The Cardinals (10-6, 6-2) will play back-to-back games against the Javelinas starting with a tough game on the road.
Andre Corley (Baytown, TX/Collin County CC) will look to continue his hot streak as he has put up 15.2 points per game and is shooting 59.6 percent from the field since joining the team at the beginning of January. The Lone Star Conference's leading scorer,
Dionelle Rucker (San Antonio, TX/New Life Academy), has scored in double figures in seven straight games and is currently averaging 17.9 points per game.
Anthony Horton (Clear Springs, TX/Campbell) has had two 20+ point games in his last five games, including 20 points in the last outing against Angelo State on Saturday.
The Javelinas (9-6, 5-3) are coming off a win over Abilene Christian in Kingsville, 74-65. The Javelinas are led by Rashad Basey who is the only one on the team averaging in double figures with 14.9 points per game game. As a team, Texas A&M-Kingsville is averaging 65.8 points per game and limiting their opponents to 61.1 points per game. They are the number one rated field goal defense limiting their opponents to shooting 37.4 percent.
The Cardinals have currently won two straight against the Javelinas, but trail the all-time series with a 10-16 record.
