Cardinals Streak Snapped

Box Score ABILENE, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team's five game winning streak came to a screeching halt on Tuesday night at Abilene Christian.  The Wildcats won the Lone Star Conference game, 93-76 at the Moody Coliseum. (Box Score)

The Wildcats (8-7, 2-5) built up a 20-point lead within the first 12 minutes of the game and the Cardinals (9-6, 5-2) never got closer than 14 points the rest of the way.  ACU led by as many as 27 points in the second half before the Cardinals closed the gap in the last few minutes.

ACU dominated the lane area outscoring the Cardinals, 51-23 on the points in the paint while pulling down seven more rebounds.  UIW performed well on offense scoring 1.07 points per possessions, but the Wildcats scored 1.31 points per possession.

The Cardinals shot 45.7 percent from the field, made 9-of-24 from three-point range and were 25-of-28 from the foul line.  Lyn'Dale Brown (San Antonio/Judson HS) scored 15 points and had seven steals to lead the team.  Kyle Hittle (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) added 16 points and six rebounds while Dionelle Rucker (San Antonio/New Life Christian Academy) had 15 points and six rebounds.  Andre Corley (Baytown/Baytown HS) came off the bench to score 14 points while knocking down 4-of-8 from three-point range.

The Wildcats shot 57.1 percent from the field, made 6-of-15 from three-point range and went 23-of-26 from the foul line.  They had five players score in double figures.  Elliott Lloyd led the team with 24 points making 4-of-8 from three-point range and 10-of-12 from the foul line.  Eric Lawton scored 18 points and dished out nine assists.  Dosh Simms had 17 points and nine rebounds while Steven Werner added 16 points.

The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Lone Star Conference rival Angelo State at the McDermott Center.
