Incarnate Word women's soccer coach Tina Patterson recently was inducted into the Plano, Texas, Independent School District's Hall of Honor.
Playing on that school's soccer team Patterson in 1981 was her team's MVP and was all-district. A year later she became Plano's first NSCAA McDonald's High School All-American. It was during this time that the school reached the .500 level for the first time.
She moved on to play soccer at Texas A&M and at North Carolina before earning her degree in Aggieland. In 1993 she came to UIW as the women's soccer coach. Now preparing for her 20th year with the Cardinals, nee Crusaders, she has amassed a mark of 239-93-29. That record includes six conference championships and seven coach of the year awards. Ten of her Incarnate Word teams have advanced to either the NAIA or NCAA national playoffs.
