#10 LADY BUFFS SWEEP CARDINALS

CANYON, TEXAS – Playing their final regular season match of the year, the University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team lost at #10 West Texas A&M 25-12, 25-13, 25-13 in Lone Star Conference play on Saturday. (Box Score)

The Lady Buffs (27-4, 17-3) dominated the match from start to finish.  They posted a .556 attack percent in the first set and .444 attack in the second set before finishing the match with a .409 attack.  The Cardinals (10-20, 7-13) were only able to finish the match with one more kill than attack error.

The Cardinals finished with 25 kills, 30 digs and four aces while posting a .009 attack.  Kelci Lind (Lindale/Lindale HS) led the team with nine kills and a .207 attack while Lydia Werchan (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley HS) led the defense with 15 digs.  Danielle Suarez (San Antonio/Antonian Prep) finished with 12 assists.

The Lady Buffs pounded out 47 kills and had 53 digs and 13.5 blocks on defense.  Halie Harton posted a double-double with 11 kills, 13 digs and a .500 attack.  Erin Dougherty had eight blocks and Lauren Beville had 18 digs to lead the defense.  Lacy Hayes handed out 42 assists and had six blocks.

The Cardinals have qualified for the LSC Tournament next weekend, but must wait to see who they are matched up against in the first round.
