A few Cardinals made the trip up to Wichita Falls, Texas to compete in the NCAA South Central Regional Championships.
On the women's side a trio of runners competed for the South Central title. Amanda Bishop Once again finished in front with a 16th place finish with a time of 22:31.70. The remaining two were Irma Garza (49th, 23:30.70) and Emma Jewell (59th, 23:39.00). The Cardinals did not place as a team overall. Bishop, with her top 25 finish, was named to the Cross Country Coaches Association All-South Central Team.
The winner of the meet was Midwestern State who finished with just 102 points.
For the men, Howard Gill was the top finisher for the Cardinals with a time of 33:15.50. That was good enough for 45th place. The remaining two Runners for UIW were Solomon Rotich (82nd, 34:10:20) and Alex Hernandez (84th, 34:12.10). Like the women, the men's team did not place because they only had three runners competing.
The team winner on the men's side was Eastern New Mexico with a score of 53 points.
This marks the end of the season for both cross-country teams.
