Incarnate Word's men's swimming and diving team won the recent Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships held in San Antonio and in the process the Cardinals were dominant when the RMAC handed out its post-season awards.

There were five individual honors presented and four came the way of the Cardinals. Patrick Cardenas was named freshman of the year after he won three events (50, 100 and 200-freestyle) and was on three winning UIW relay teams.

Sophomore Aliaksandr Yatsko won the swimmer of the year award living up to a pre-season RMAC poll which said he would gain that honor. And, after he won three individual races (500, 1000-freestyle and 400-IM) and was on four winning relay teams, he was voted the meet's most valuable swimmer.

With the Cardinals winning the team title in domiating fashion Incarnate Word's Phillip Davis was named coach of the year.

The all-conference teams were loaded with Cardinals swimmers and divers. If a swimmer or diver won his event he was named first team. If he finished second he was second team and onto the third unit.
