Goalkeeper Tori Puentes and forward Sarah Hernandez of Incarnate Word were named the Heartland Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Puentes earned two shutouts this weekend over Heartland Conference opponents, getting 1-0 decisions over St. Edward's and St. Mary's, earning her the Defensive Player of the Week honor.

The sophomore now has six shutouts on the season and has a 0.72 goals-against-average this season.

Hernandez continued to lead the Cardinals in offense in the two final home games of the season – playing a major part in both the 1-0 victory over STMU on Sunday and the 1-0 win over SEU on Friday – to get awarded the Offensive Player of the Week award.

Hernandez dished out her eighth assist to her sister, Emily, to set up the game-winning goal against the Rattlers on Sunday. On Friday, she snuck a shot under the crossbar from 25 yards out for her 13th goal of the season (and her seventh game-winner) to beat the Hilltoppers.

The junior native of San Antonio is averaging 1.89 points-per-game in 18 games played this season.

UIW's record is 14-2-3 and they are 9-1-1 in the Heartland Conference and alone in first place. The team's final game of the season is Friday in Laredo against Texas A&M International University.
