Myah Antwi wasted no time at all in rewriting the University of the Incarnate Word women's record book in the throws portion of track and field and as a result she has been named UIW Female Athlete of the Year for 2013-2014.

Candidates for UIW female athlete of the year are those who were deemed the best in competition for a specific seven-day period at some point in the school year.  At the end of the year coaches and athletic administrators vote for female athlete of the year.

Antwi is a freshman and in her very first collegiate competition indoors she came home with two Incarnate Word school records.  It was at the University of Oklahoma Sooner Open on January 18.  She stepped into the circle for the shot put and came up with a record 12.60 meters (41-04.00 feet).  She then turned her attention to the weight throw and posted a mark of 14.6 meters (47-11.00 feet) for a school record.

She later broke both those marks.  The school records are now 12.95 meters (42-06.00 feet) in the shot and 15.42 meters (50-07.25 feet) in the weight throw.  She set both distances in mid-February in Lubbock.

After her first indoor season she now has the top three UIW marks in the shot put topping the previous best which had stood for five years.  In the weight event, she has the top four UIW marks.

When it came time to move outdoors Antwi became even more dominant.  The prime example of that would be the UIW Cardinal Invitational in mid-April.  She set a new discus record with 41.79 meters (137-1.00 feet).   She set a new shot put record with 13.66 meters (44-09.75 feet).  She set a school mark in the weight throw with 44.85 meters (147-1.00 feet).  All of that was on one day.

At the end of the outdoor season she is in the UIW book with the eight best efforts in the shot put surpassing a mark that had lasted five years.  In the discus she now has the best two distances and four of the top five in school history.  And in the weight throw she has the seven top distances in Incarnate Word history

As UIW was going through its first year of transitioning to Division I Antwi was making a name for herself on the circuit.  With competition a step up from previous years she consistently had top 10 finishes in all three of her events.

Antwi is from Huntsville and Huntsville High School.  At Incarnate Word she is studying biology.
