FRISCO, Texas -- For the fifth year in a row, the University of the Incarnate Word Athletic Deparetment earned a top-three finish in the Southland Conference's Commissioner's Cup and All-Sports Standings.
In the 2025-26 rankings, which were released Tuesday, UIW finished in a third-place tie with Texas A&M Corpus Christi, with both schools earning 117.5 points. Stephen F. Austin, which won top honors on both the men's and women's side, was first with 151 points, with UTRGV, the men's and women's runner-up, taking second with 138.5.
Scoring is determined via a sliding-scale system where the SLC takes the scores from a school's top-six men's teams and top-seven women's teams, with the final tally coming from adding the totals up.
The men's program finished third overall with 56.5 points, just one behind UTRGV.
Thanks to
a regular season SLC championship, the men's tennis program was the top performer, accumulating 13 points.
The men's golf program, which was the runner-up at the SLC Championships, was one of three teams to earn 10 points, the other being cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.
Football and men's basketball rounded out the scoring, each netting 3.5.
The women's program came in sixth with 55 points.
Leading the way on the women's side was the volleyball program, which earned 9.5 points after tying for third in the 2025 league standings.
Others to crack the top-seven were cross country (nine points), softball (8.5) golf (eight), basketball (seven), tennis (seven) and track and field (six).
UIW has finished in the top-three of the Southland Conference Commissioner's Cup standings in each of the last five academic years, highlighted by back-to-back
wins in both 2022
and 2023.
