Due to inclement weather making Comanche Trace unplayable, the first round of the 2026 Southland Conference Men's Golf Championship was suspended.
The Incarnate Word men's golf team had completed anywhere from five to seven holes at the time play was halted and had gotten off to a hot start, leading the championship by seven strokes with a team score of nine-under-par.
Four of the five Cardinals were under par when play was suspended, with
Joel Talusen on top of the leaderboard at four-under-par. He started his round with three-straight birdies and had four through his first six holes.
Taylor Cussimanio and
Rhys Nicholas are sitting in a tie for third at two-under, Cussimanio with three birdies and a bogey through seven holes and Nicholas following his round-opening birdies with four-straight pars. And
Francisco Taboada is one-under through five holes and in eighth place.
Thomas Chalk is the last Incarnate Word golfer in the field, sitting at one-over-par through six holes.
Round 1 will resume at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning and will feature continuous play until the completion of Round 2.
