The Incarnate Word men's track and field team wrapped-up the UTSA Invitational with another strong showing in the day's events, with four top-five finishes.
Jonah Ulbricht got the day started with a second-place finish in pole vault. He cleared all heights up to 5.10 meters with ease, getting over the bar on his first try each time, but he fell short on the 5.25 meters height, leaving him to settle for second place in the event.
Dreyton Bacon gave the Cardinals their second top-five finish in field events on the day with a fourth place finish in high jump, clearing 1.95 meters.
Over in the track portion of the events, Incarnate Word had two top-five finishes, one coming in the 400 meter hurdles and the other coming in the 4x400 meter relay to close out the day's action.
Elijah Williams finished the 400 meter hurdles race in 55.54 seconds to take fifth in the event. In the 4x400 meter relay,
Jake Grullon,
Ahmir Robinson,
Taye Jackson, and
Beckham Kelly combined to finish the race in 3:19.92 to place fifth.
Other notable results on the day were a pair of sixth-place finishes from
Devin Gills, one in the 100 meter dash and the other in the 200 meter dash, and a seventh place finish from Grullon in the 110 meter hurdles.
The Cardinals will be in San Marcos, Texas for next week's Texas State Charles Austin Classic. The two-day event begins on Friday, March 27th.
