UIW (10–11, 8–6 SLC) battled back from an eight-point halftime deficit with a strong defensive third quarter, outscoring the Lady Lions 16–9 to briefly take a two-point lead late in the period. Destiny Whitaker's three-pointer tied the game at 49–49, and Gwendlyn McGrew converted inside to give the Cardinals a 51–49 edge heading into the final seconds of the third.
Gwendlyn McGrew led the Cardinals with 19 points and seven rebounds, shooting 6-of-16 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
