SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team opens its 2026 season against UIC Feb. 14–16 at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. on Friday. Saturday's contest is scheduled for 2:05 p.m., and the Cardinals will wrap up opening weekend Sunday with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch.

UIW
The 2026 campaign marks the first season under head coach Nick Zaleski, who takes over a roster featuring experienced returners across the diamond.
Offensively, UIW returns several key contributors from last season. Ryder Hernandez appeared in 48 games and hit .280 with four home runs and 27 RBI. Thomas Lyssy batted .294 with a .427 on-base percentage across 48 starts, while Jake Weaver hit .279 with 25 RBI in 36 appearances.
On the mound, the Cardinals return valuable innings. EJ Garcia made 21 appearances and logged 69.1 innings with 33 strikeouts. Gus McKay totaled 48.2 innings across 13 appearances, including nine starts, while Braelin Pillot appeared in 19 games out of the bullpen and recorded three saves.
UIW will look to establish early-season consistency and execution as it opens the three-game set at Sullivan Field.
Scouting the Flames
UIC competes in the Missouri Valley Conference and begins its season on the road in San Antonio. The Flames will look to generate early momentum in nonconference play.
