BEAUMONT, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team (7-8, 5-1) continued its win streak with a three-set sweep of Lamar (5-14, 2-4)on Saturday. The Cardinals controlled the match from start to finish, winning 25-20, 25-18 and 25-17 to secure their third consecutive conference win.
SET ONE: The opening set featured eight ties and three lead changes as neither team gave up a run of points. Three consecutive kills from Calissa Allison started a 4-0 run out of the break, giving UIW an 18-15 lead. Lamar brought the set back within one, but Incarnate Word strung together a series of kills to reach 20 kills in the set while hitting .349. Allison closed out the set with a kill to secure a 25-20 win.

Lamar fought back within four with the score 15-11, but Incarnate Word continued to stay in control, claiming the set 25-18 and taking a 2-0 match lead.
SET THREE: The third set remained even early before the Cardinals pulled ahead 8-4 and extended their lead with a 7-0 run to make it 12-4.
