SAN ANTONIO—The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will travel to Houston to take on Rice on Thursday at 6 p.m. This will be the third time the Owls and Cardinals will face each other.

UIW
- The Cardinals return 14 players from the 2024 roster, including ten players who each logged over 500 minutes of play.
- Head coach Jake Plant returns for his third season after leading the team to an 8-8-3 finish in 2024, marking the Cardinals' best season since 2021.
- Last season also saw UIW return to the Southland Conference Tournament for the first time since 2021.
- The Red and Black are coming off a 1-1 week to open the 2025 season. On opening night in Denton, the Cardinals defeated UNT for the first time in program history.
- Hannah Alexander recorded 18 saves playing every minute of UIW's two matches last week.
Scouting the Owls
- The Owls enter week two 2-0 after defeating two Southland Conference opponents last week.
- Mariana Elizondo leads the Owls in points with four. Last week, she recorded two goals in 121 minutes of playing time.
- Two Owls earned conference recognitions last week, with Lilly Reuscher being named American Defensive Player of the Week and Laurel Kelley being named Honorable Mention.
