SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word Softball team had three student-athletes earn 2025 Southland Conference honors.
 
Victoria Altamirano led the way for the Cardinals all season and was not only one of the best players in the Southland Conference but all of the NCAA. After an amazing 2025 campaign she named the 2025 SLC Player of the Year, this is her second consecutive season winning the award.
 
Vic finished the season first in home runs (16), slugging percentage (.894), walks (53), on base percentage (.615), runs scored (58), OPS (1.509). She was second in conference for batting average (.447), fifth in RBIs (37), and is tenth in conference for hits (59).  Vic hit a home run in seven out of eight SLC series this season including a walk off in the 10^th against McNeese. She is hitting .500 in conference currently as well as the top hitting in Division I 643 analytics for a week. She was also ranked nationally in six different categories; home runs, slugging percentage, walks, on base percentage, runs and batting average. All of this helped her be named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Year.
 
This coupled with her 187 putouts and .961 fielding percentage earned her a spot as the All-Conference First Team at first base.
 
Joining her on the list of Southland Conference honorees is pitcher Larissa Jacquez, who made it to the All-Conference Second Team. Lari had the lowest ERA in the Southland and the 15th in the NCAA at 1.56. Larissa is also first in strike outs with 155 total, both swinging and looking (34), and 3rd in conference for BAA (.214). She will look to be one of less than 10 Southland Conference pitchers to earn 10 wins in the 2025 season.
 
Last but certainly not least was Jaisy Caceres who was named as the catcher on the All-Defensive Team. She is one of five players to have a perfect fielding percentage. She is also seventh in the SLC for CSB with four.
