LAKE CHARLES, La. – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team's season came to an end on Sunday afternoon after falling to McNeese 3-1 in the Southland Conference tournament.
The game was a closely contested battle with no team gaining an edge through the first few innings. UIW began to put things together in the fourth when
Prisais Quintero and
Jasmine Sierra got back-to-back hits to start the inning.
Kennedy Hill followed this up with a sacrifice fly to send Quintero across the plate and give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.
The Cardinals remained not only in the lead, but also in control of the game until the seventh inning. The Cowgirls kicked things off with a leadoff double and would go on to tie and win the game 3-1.
