ABILENE, TX. - The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team fell to Abilene Christian University, 13-5, at Crutcher Scott Field at Bullock Brothers Ballpark on Tuesday evening.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first. AJ Herrera got the scoring started with an RBI single up the middle. Jake Weaver drew a bases loaded walk to drive in a run, and Kegan Magee drove in three on a double to left center. Later in the inning, the Wildcats scored on a solo homer, bringing the score to 5-1 through one.
ACU scored two in the fourth to pull within two, 5-3.
In the fifth, the Wildcats drove in a run, bringing the score to 5-4.
The Wildcats took their first lead in the sixth, scoring three to move ahead 7-5.
ACU closed out the game, scoring two in the seventh and four in the eighth, bringing the final score to 13-5
The Cardinals are off this weekend and won't return to action until next Tuesday at UTRGV.
