SAN ANTONIO, TX– The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team visits Rice on March 18 at Reckling Park. The Cardinals then visit Southern University on March 19 at Lee-Hines Stadium. Tuesday's game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday's game is set for 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday's game marks the 3rd meeting all-time between the two programs. Wednesday's game marks the 5th meeting all-time between the two programs. 

UIW   

• Daniel Calabrese is the Red and Black BA. leader, batting .394. Calabrese leads the team with 37 hits. Rob Liddington Jr. leads the team in home runs with nine, runs scored 27, and RBI with 28.  

• Entering the series, the Red and Black have the fourth-best BA (.310) in the SLC. They also have the second-most doubles (46), the second-most hits (226), and the second-most RBI (159). 

• Josh Salinas has been the Cardinals Friday guy, pitching to a 6.41 ERA, while also leading the team in innings pitched (26.2). Salinas leads the team in strikeouts with 25.  

• The Cardinals enter the series 9-12 (0-9), after getting swept by the University of New Orleans this past weekend. 

Scouting the Owls 

• Michael Zito leads the team batting .321 with 17 hits, four RBI, and 11 runs scored.  

• Tucker Alch is 2-0 in two starts and has pitched to a 3.80 ERA. In 23.2 innings, Alch has struck out ten batters and allowed ten runs on 27 hits.  

• Rice enters the matchup 4-16 (0-0). 

Scouting the Jaguars 

• Taj Bates leads the team batting .468 with 29 hits, 24 RBI, and 14 runs scored.  

• Ranard Grace is 1-2 in four starts and has pitched to a 4.37 ERA. In 22.2 innings, Grace has struck out 22 batters and allowed 11 runs on 17 hits.  

• Southern University enters the matchup 8-9 (1-2).
