SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team lost the final game of their three-game set to the University of New Orleans, 12-6 on Sunday at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B.
The Privateers struck first, driving in two runs in the top of the first.
Down two, the Cardinals drove in two runs in the second to tie the game at 2-2. Ryder Hernandez and Kegan Magee recorded back-to-back RBI singles.
A five-run third inning gave the Privateers the lead, 7-2.
A solo homer in the fourth extended UNO's lead to 8-2.
The Privateers took a ten-run lead, scoring four runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 12-2.
The Cardinals drove in the game's final four runs to bring the final score to 12-6. Tony DeJesus singled in a run in the fifth. Gray Bane doubled in two in the eighth, Bane later scored on a wild pitch.
UIW will be on the road for a five-game road trip this upcoming week. On Tuesday the Cardinals visit Rice.
