HOUSTON, TX - The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team defeated Rice 4-2 at Reckling Park on Tuesday night. Bruno Robles picked up his first collegiate win, while Braelin Pillot recorded his second save in the win. Â Â Â Â
The Cardinals scored first, taking a 2-0 lead in the first. After an error extended the inning, Tony DeJesus drove in two on a two-out single. Â
Rice tied the game in the second at 2-2 on a groundout and RBI single.Â
Thomas Lyssy picked up an RBI to retake the lead in the fourth, 3-2.Â
In the seventh, Rey Mendoza drove in an insurance run for the Red and Black to bring the final score to 4-2.Â
Robles pitched 2.1 innings, allowing no runs and striking out three batters. Pillot ended the ninth stranding two runners on base, ending the game on a strikeout. Â
The Cardinals travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to take on Southern University tomorrow. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. Â
