AUSTIN, TEXAS - The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team was shutout, 6-0, by #15 Texas at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Tuesday night.
The Longhorns singled in a run in the first to take a 1-0 lead after playing one.
The Cardinals' pitching and defense kept them in the game through six. EJ Garcia and Gus McKay combined to allow just one run through six innings.
Texas put up three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to bring the final score to 6-0.
JD Gregson and Thomas Lyssy were the two Cardinals who recorded hits in the loss.
UIW will open conference play this coming weekend against Houston Christian at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. The first pitch for Friday's game is set for 2:05 p.m.
