SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team hosts Texas Southern on Feb. 21-23 at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the first pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. 

Friday and Sunday's games will be broadcast on ESPN+. Fans can also follow along on live stats and X @uiwbaseball. 

Friday's game marks the thirteenth meeting all-time between the two programs.  

UIW  

• Rey Mendoza and Josh Salinas were named to the 2025 Southland Conference Baseball Preseason All-Conference first team. Earlier this month, Salinas was ranked as the 126th-best starting pitcher by D1 Baseball.   

• After his stellar opening weekend performance at the plate, Ryan Scott was named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week. Scott drove in a whopping 15 runs while crushing four home runs.  

• Luke Smith had a solid outing on the mound this past weekend, allowing just one earned run while striking out five batters in six innings.   

• The Cardinals enter the weekend 4-1 after defeating Abilene Christian 11-7 this past Tuesday.  

Scouting the Tigers 

• Texas Southern finished last season in first place in the SWAC West standings.  

• The SWAC predicted the Tigers to finish in seventh place in the 2025 preseason poll.  

• Last season, the Wildcats finished 23-25 overall and 18-6 in conference play.  

• TSU enters the matchup 1-3 after losing to Louisiana this past Tuesday 11-14.
