SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team hosts Abilene Christian on Feb. 18 at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. on Tuesday.

The midweek matchup marks the fortieth meeting all-time between the two programs.  

UIW  

• Rey Mendoza and Josh Salinas were named to the 2025 Southland Conference Baseball Preseason All-Conference first team. Earlier this week, Salinas was ranked as the 126th best starting pitcher by D1 Baseball.   

• After his stellar opening weekend performance at the plate Ryan Scott was named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week. Scott drove in a whopping 15 runs while crushing four home runs.  

• Luke Smith had a solid outing on the mound this past weekend, allowing just one earned run while striking out five batters in six innings.   

• The Cardinals enter the week 3-1 after hosting Saint Peter's this past weekend.  

Scouting the Wildcats 

• Abilene Christian finished last season in second place in the WAC standings.  

• The WAC predicted the Wildcats to finish in second place in the 2025 preseason poll.  

• Last season the Wildcats finished 33-25 overall and 18-12 in conference play.  

• ACU enters the matchup 1-2 after losing their series to Illinois this past weekend.
