SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team opens its season against Saint Peter's Feb. 14-16 at Sullivan Field, sponsored by H-E-B. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, game one of our doubleheader is set for 12:05 p.m. We will wrap up opening weekend on Sunday with a 12:05 p.m. first pitch. 

All four games will be broadcasted on ESPN+. Fans can also follow along on live stats and on X @uiwbaseball. 

The weekend set marks the first meeting all-time between the two programs. 

UIW  

• Rey Mendoza and Josh Salinas were named to the 2025 Southland Conference Baseball Preseason All-Conference first team. Earlier this week, Salinas was ranked as the 126th best starting pitcher by D1 Baseball.   

• The Cardinals return key players in Mendoza, Salinas, Ryan Scott, Tyler Cowan, Daniel Calabrese, Ryder Hernandez, JD Gregson, Ryan Schlotzhauer and more.  

• Head coach Ryan Shotzberger added 21 new faces to the team for the second year in a row.  

• Last season, the Cardinals finished 17-10 at home and 26-31 overall, clinching the final spot in the Southland Conference tournament.  

Scouting the Peacocks 

• Saint Peter's finished last season in eleventh place in the MAAC standings.  

• The MAAC predicted the Peacocks to finish in thirteenth place in the 2025 preseason poll.  

• Last season the Peacocks finished 6-9 at home and 12-40 overall.  

• Saint Peter's is returning 18 players from last year's roster while adding 17 transfers and five high school recruits.
