SAN ANTONIO, Tx. – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team lost to McNeese, 74–53, on Monday night at the McDermott Center.
Londyn Oliphant led the Cardinals with a career-high 10 points. Brynn Lusby recorded a team-high seven rebounds.
The Cowgirls held a 16–8 advantage heading into the second quarter. McNeese struggled from the field in the second, shooting 31.25% from the field. Despite the shooting struggled McNeese led 28-19 entering halftime.
The Cowgirls carried the momentum into the third quarter, shooting 75 % from the field while the Cardinals continued to struggle offensively, connecting on just 37.5% of their attempts. McNeese outscored UIW 28–19 in the quarter to extend the lead to 56–38 entering the fourth.
McNeese put the game away in the final period, shooting 44.4 % from the field to secure the 74–53 win.
UIW returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 31, hosting Southeastern Louisiana at the McDermott Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
