SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team put an end to their three-game losing streak with a dominant 90-66 win over the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Sunday night.
Davion Bailey led all scorers with 24 points, 18 coming in the second half.
Tahj Staveskie continued to make plays scoring 14 and adding seven assists. Other big time contributors were
Jordan Pyke who put up 18 and Harlod Woods who had nine points and seven rebounds.
Jordan Pyke took over in the half scoring 14 and knocking down both of his shots from beyond the arc. The Cardinals built a solid 14-point lead with six minutes to go but, the lumberjacks closed the half on a 13-4 run. The two went into the break with a score
The 'Jacks run continued in the scored half as NAU scored seven of the first eight points and knotted things up at 40 a piece. Bailey made sure the game didn't stay close for long with 14 points in just the first eight minutes of the second half pushing the Cardinal lead back to double-digits, 57-47.
The Cardinals poured it on in the final minutes of the game and walked away with a 90-66 win, remaining undefeated at home. UIW will be back in action on Dec. 30
th when the Southeastern Louisiana Lions come to town.
