FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team narrowly fell to the Texas Christian Horned Frogs, 65-69, on Monday night in Fort Worth.
Davion Bailey dominated and led all scorers. He had 32 points on nine 3-pointers and three free throws.
UIW jumped out to an early double-digit lead, behind 15 points from Bailey and Estebahn Mann who returned to the Cardinal lineup. Bailey finished the half with 16 points, after knocking down five 3-pointers. This was the difference in the first 20 minutes as TCU only converted on three shots from behind the arc and UIW led by six at the break 37-31.
Early in the second half the Cardinals went on a nearly four-minute scoring drought that opened the door for a TCU comeback. The Horned Frogs cut the lead to two, 52-50, but
Jayden Williams got the scoring going again with back-to-back buckets to pushing the lead back to six.
TCU wasn't done though, and a few minutes later took their first lead since the first minute of the game, 59-58. The two teams battled back and fourth down the stretch neither gaining a significant advantage. With 1:11 left Bailey came up with a clutch 3-pointer to tie things up at 65 a piece. The Cardinals wouldn't score again and fell by a final of 65-69.
