SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team dominantly won against Jarvis Christian University (104-60) and broke a school record in their home opener of the 2025 season.
Five Cardinal players entered double-digit points for their convincing win against the Bulldogs– including
Davion Bailey (18),
Jordan Pyke (17),
Harold Woods (11),
Love Bettis (10) and leading scorer
Harrison Reede, who shattered a Division 1 record by sinking 12 three-point shots (66.7% 3FG) for 36 points in 28 minutes coming off the bench.
The Bulldogs only led for three minutes in this game. After being down 10-9, the Cardinals responded with 21 consecutive points with six three-pointers in five minutes. The first period found the Cardinals shooting effectively from behind the arc (50% 3FG) with buckets from Reede, Pyke and Bettis.
Cardinals outscored the Bulldogs in the first half 48-20 and went into the locker room pumped for the following 20 minute period.
UIW kept its foot on the gas in the second half and continued to smother JCU on defense, causing 17 turnovers and scoring 36 points off each opportunity. Six players wearing red and white jerseys recorded a steal against the Bulldogs; Bailey and Pyke led with two.
The Cards dominated during an eight-minute 25-6 point run with three 3-pointers from the hot hand in Reede.
The team crashed the glass successfully against the Bulldogs with the help of Woods, clinching his first double-double of the season (11), and
Lewis Rowe (10).
UIW scored 56 points in the second half, bringing the final score to 104-60 and an electric win at home to begin the season.
