BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball narrowly fell on the road to the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers 61-69 on Sunday afternoon.
 
Tahj Staveskie once again led the way on the offensive end scoring 17 points and Jordan Pyke wasn't too far behind with 16.
 
The Cardinals jumped on the Hoosiers early after a Pyke 3-pointer gave UIW a four-point lead 6-2. From there UIW put an emphasis on getting the ball down low to maintain the slim lead. The Cardinals were successful until Indiana went on a 13-3 run and take a 31-17 lead. Pyke added a pair of free throws, but UIW went into the break trailing 35-19.
 
The Hoosiers and the Cardinals both found a rhythm in the second half and there was virtually no change to the deficit. That was until Harrison Reede scored seven straight points giving UIW life now only down 12, the closest the game had been since seven minutes remaining in the first half.
 
UIW continued to find good looks from beyond the arc, continuing the chop away at the Indiana lead until it was down to just six., 48-54 with five minutes to go. The Hoosiers outscored the Cardinals 15-13 down the stretch and escaped with a 66-61 win.
