SAN ANTONIO, TX – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision to Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday afternoon at the McDermott Center. 

Set 1: UIW 16 (0), SLU 25 (1)       

Southeastern Louisiana dictated the pace early, building a six-point advantage in the opening set. The Lady Lions extended their lead with a 4-0 spurt followed by a 3-0 run to comfortably take the first frame. 

Set 2: UIW 22 (0), SLU 25 (2)      

The second set was tightly contested as the Cardinals and Lady Lions exchanged points with neither team leading by more than five. SLU eventually pulled ahead to reach set point at 24-20 before finishing the frame to go up 2-0. 

Set 3: UIW 20 (0), SLU 25 (3)      

Southeastern Louisiana used an early 5-0 run to take a 9-5 lead and never looked back, leading by as many as seven before closing out the final set.   

Kyla Malone led the Cardinals with 10 kills on the afternoon, while Calissa Allison notched her 16th double-double of the season with a match-high 26 assists and 14 digs. 

UIW continues its conference slate on the road, traveling to New Orleans to take on the Privateers on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m.
