LAS CRUCES, NM. – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team split its road trip to Las Cruces, picking up a win against the Jaguars, but falling to the host Aggies.
Game 1: UIW 3, SU 0
The Cardinals took care of business against Southern University on Friday with a sweep. UIW thoroughly outplayed the Jaguars, outscoring them in points, kills, aces, blocks, assists, and digs. Kyla Malone led all players in kills with 12. Kade Thomas recorded four blocks, while Anuhea Faitau picked up 16 assists. Audrey Patton led both teams in digs with ten.
Game 2: UIW 1, NMST 3
After winning set one in commanding fashion the Aggies took control the rest of the way. Risa Sena led all players in kills with 19, and in blocks with five. Calissa Allison finished with 26 assists and Patton recorded 12 digs.
The Cardinals enter conference play at the top of the standings with a 7-3 record. UIW's first two conference matches will be on the road at A&M Commerce and at Southeastern La.
