SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team traveled across town to face the University of Texas at San Antonio for a Tuesday night matchup. The Cardinals fell 13-3 to the Roadrunners in eight innings.
UTSA scored four quick runs in the bottom of the first and another in the second to take a 5-0 lead over the Cardinals.

Rey Mendoza single in the top of the third brought home
Luca Boscarino and added a run to the board for UIW (5-1).
Two runs apiece in the fourth and sixth innings for the Roadrunners gave UTSA a commanding 9-1 advantage heading into the seventh.
Dalton Beck got the scoring started for the Cardinals in the top of the seventh with a double to right field, scoring
Cameron Caley. Beck then advanced to third on a throwing error and a ground out from
Grant Randall plated Beck to cut the score to 9-3.
UTSA added one run in the bottom of the seventh and four more in the eighth to take the 13-3 victory over the Cardinals.
UIW now looks to finish out Southland Conference play with a series at Houston Christian beginning on Thursday, May 16 at 2 p.m.
