Waco, Texas - The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team defeated Baylor on Sunday afternoon, 14-1, in eight innings at Baylor Ballpark. The Cardinal offense put up 13 hits, while UIW's pitching staff allowed just one run on six hits. 

Neither offense could get anything going through the first three innings. 

Ryder Hernandez opened up the scoring with an RBI double in the fourth to give UIW a 1-0 lead.

The Cardinals kept the momentum going in the fifth, loading the bases with one out for JD Gregson. The Cardinal catcher crushed the first pitch he saw to left center for a grand slam. Gregson's homer left his bat at 107 MPH to extend UIW's lead to 5-0.

In the sixth, Ryan Scott, Tony DeJesus, and Gregson all singled in runs to push the lead to 9-0. Later in the inning, the Bears got on the board with a solo homer to make the score 9-1. 

Gregson recorded his sixth RBI of the day on a double off the wall in the eighth to push the lead to 10-1. Later in the inning, Daniel Calabrese and Hernandez recorded RBI singles to extend the lead to 12-1. Cameron Caley ended the day with a two-run homer over the wall to bring the final score to 14-1.

The Cardinals are in Houston on Tuesday, April 9 to take on Rice. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
